And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you? _Genesis 3:8-9 (AMP)

In the beginning, God’s plan for mankind was a close, loving relationship, the relationship of a father with his children. He came to the garden in the cool of the evening to spend time with the man he had created. When Adam and his wife hid, God said, “Where are you?”

So wrong!

A Holy God and the children he created, separated by evil; by lies, by rebellion and deception. But God honestly wanted to spend time with them! Why else would he have been walking in the garden expecting to see them?

God honestly wants to spend time with you, too.

In Christ, Adam’s sin is washed away and your Abba – Father says “Come boldly.” In Christ you are once again God’s child. He loves you. He KNOWS you. He numbers the hairs of your head. And, he wants you to KNOW him. How amazing is that?

The creator of the universe wants to meet with you.

Just you alone.

Every day.

To talk over the details of your life, to clam you fears and to guide your steps.

How can you say no to such an opportunity?

And yet…we do. We’re too busy. We’re too ashamed. We’re to afraid. There are a million and one reasons God’s children hide themselves from fellowship with Him. They’ve been abused , and so trust no one. They’ve been rejected, and so refuse to love again. They’ve been…. You fill in the blanks.

So…what does God do?

Well, not what He did with Adam and Eve, that’s for sure.

Romans 5:15-18 Then as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men.

No! Because of the Cross, God waits.

He waits for us to hear and respond to the still small voice that is the Holy Spirit, convicting us that He IS Waiting. Unlike Adam and Eve, we have nothing to fear; we need only to believe, and accept.

Mark 5:35-37  But ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”

Luke 8:49-51 But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well.”
