“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

October! At last!  Last week the calender said October, but we were still pushing 100° in the afternoons.  Today the forecast is 72° and rain. That probably means, as usual here in the San Joaquin Valley, Autumn was a nice day and tomorrow the winter fog will put in an appearance. Right now it is cloudy, cool and damp but there are still some bright spots in the garden. It is California after all.

Gemini, the faithful old rose who lives in the front corner of the yard, has pushed forth the last summer flowers.

and they are lovely – even in low light.

The Impatiens who live in the planter box beside the front steps are still bright red and boisterous. It’s almost as if they know frost is on the way and any day could be their last hooray. Methinks there’s a life-lesson somewhere in that.

Hope your day is blessed with some bright spots too.
