Today there was an opportunity to have a miserable day. Ever have one of those?
We all have moments of anxiety, depression or fear. Each is a form of unnecessary suffering.
Instead of sinking into the depths, I am determined to learn to be happy NOW! Not someday when everything appears to be perfect—but right NOW.
I have heard friends say, “someday, when the children are older.” Or, “someday, when i can afford to quit this job.” So often there is a “someday” paving the road to true happiness.
Being happy NOW takes determination, and some work. It means change, and change isn’t always easy. Personally, I am resistant to change. I don’t like it much. The older I get, the less I like it, Then I read somewhere, “You can change for two reasons; either you learn enough that you want to, or you’ve been hurt enough that you have to.” Well… I pride myself on learning something new every day if I can, and it’s been years since I’ve been hurt enough to have to change. So.o.o
It seems to me acceptance is the key to being happy now.
Accept yourself now,
Accept others now,
Accept your circumstances, now.
I’ve decided there is great spiritual power is taking these steps. They release great peace into my life.
Try it yourself the next time you have an opportunity to have a miserable day. You’ll see that it is possible to be Happy NOW.
