The Lord says..
I will guide you on the best pathway for your life..
I will advise you and watch over you..Psalm 32:8
In the 21st century our world has become a much darker and more dangerous place. In 2017 – on social media, on the news stands and on the television – celebrities reign . We watch as many of them hire bodyguards for protection. Some take classes in self-defense, others turn their homes into mini-fortresses with gates, locks and alarms. It’s a simple thing to become influenced by these celebrity role models who are worried about self-preservation and as a result many Christians feel the need to take extra precautions in their day to day lives as well.
Today I’m writing to remind Christians: we live in the world but we are not OF the world. As Christians, it is wise to remember, our Heavenly Father has made provision for our protection.
“That’s fine,” you may say. “But in this world where accidents happen and tragedy strikes, how are we to understand God’s protection. God is sovereign, and what happens, happens. Right?”
Well…yes. And NO! Let’s find out what God’s Word says about that:
How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world.
You hide them in the shelter of your presence,
safe from those who conspire against them.
You shelter them in your presence,
far from accusing tongues.
Praise the Lord,
for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love.
He kept me safe when my city was under attack.
In panic I cried out,
“I am cut off from the Lord!”
But you heard my cry for mercy
and answered my call for help.
Love the Lord, all you godly ones!
For the Lord protects those who are loyal to him,
but he harshly punishes the arrogant.
So be strong and courageous,
all you who put your hope in the Lord! _Psalm 31:19-24
So, if protection is what you need right now, trust in God’s sovereign wisdom and in His Word.
- God will fight your battles.
- God protects his people.
- God is a refuge in times of trouble.
- God watches over you.
- God’s angels watch over you.
- God will guard you from the evil one.
Stay tuned, dear hearts. In the coming weeks we are going to examine what God’s Word has to say about this subject and a few others that just may change your perspective on God’s promises for your life.
