Good afternoon Dear Hearts. I’ve been reading the account of Apostle Peter’s first recorded sermon today. What he said reminded me of some things we’ve been hearing from prominent men of God lately. I was especially interested in:
The Crowd Response to Peter’s Words
37 When they heard this they were crushed and realized what they had done to Jesus. Deeply moved, they said to Peter and the other apostles, “What do we need to do, brothers?”
Acts 2:37-39 TPT
38 Peter replied, “Repent and return to God, and each one of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus, the Anointed One, to have your sins removed. Then you may take hold of the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For God’s promise of the Holy Spirit is for you and your families, for those yet to be born and for everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
I found this very moving and I want to take a few minutes to share what’s on my heart with you.
There is a revival coming!
All over the world, people are changing their minds (that’s what the word translated repent truly means) and returning to God. Evil has overplayed his hand. Even those who are neither for or against God are being impacted.
Those who have lived an Entitled, ego-centric, elitist life are changing their minds. Those who once thrived on the Vile, vulgar and violent are changing their minds. The ones who believe living an Immoral, idolatrous life is all fun and games are changing their minds. Those who Lust after all that our modern world has to offer (fame, fortune and lack of all accountability) are changing their minds.
EVIL
By the grace of God, it is losing its luster! The Holy Spirit is drawing people away from evil and into the family of God, and He is using the media to accomplish it. By the Grace of God people all over the world are ‘changing their minds.’ Please don’t tell me you haven’t seen something in the media in the past few weeks that made you shake your head and say, “That’s just WRONG!”
I think the thing that thrills me most of all is that “Christians” are also changing their minds! You’ve hear me say it before…going to church doesn’t make you a “Christian” any more than going to the garage makes you a car! An intimate relationship with Jesus Christ makes you a “Christian” or “Christ follower.” Jesus calls the church “the Bride of Christ” there is no more intimate relationship in all of humanity that that of a bride and her groom. Today, I am thrilled to see church goers becoming brides and entitled, vulgar, immoral, laggards turning their lives to God. For God’s promise of forgiveness and the promised Holy Spirit is for you and your families.
This afternoon my prayer is that if you or someone you love needs a change of mind and heart you will take a few moments to read the second chapter of Acts. I feel certain (because the Word never returns empty_ Isaiah 55:11) the Holy Spirit will accomplish God’s will and purpose for you.
