odds n' ends

January ’21

The first month of 2021 has been a doozy!

Ten months into the global pandemic that is Covid 19 we are discovering – even in the midst of chaos – God has a plan.

This is the way God wants you who belong to Jesus to live. Don’t burn out. Keep yourself fueled and aflame. Be an alert servant of the Master. Be cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times. Pray all the harder. Help needy Christians, be inventive in hospitality. Let hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times. Thank God no matter what happens. Run with passion into his abundance so that we may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of us to make us his own.

On the 6th we started a plan to share Holy Communion during our morning Quiet Time until February 14th – that’s 40 days.

On the 9th I read Ephesians and heard the Spirit say: “when are you going to realize the power that resides within you?”

16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

Ephesians 1:16-20 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

This month we did our “bit” for the economy. A portion of our stimulus check went for a set of new dishes for the house and an “I’ve always wanted one” lathe for the shop. We also added a few books. A couple to our own library…most notably, The Harbinger II by Jonathan Cahn and Be Revived by Katie Souza. Both were definitely worth the read time.

All of our shopping was done online or via Instacart and as a result we hardly left the place all month.

I pray this first month of 2021 has been blessed at your place, too.
