publish PEACE

I’m ba.a.ack!

It has been exactly twenty days since my social media was updated or a new post has been posted here. It’s sad, but true. The time away was meant to bring clarity of purpose and renewed focus to my online offerings. For the first ten days I was just ‘over it’ mostly due to what appeared to be a dramatic decline in effective communication. Over the next ten days the Lord reminded me why there is an online offering at all.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Isaiah 52:7 RSV

This verse became my marching orders years ago. Publish peace. Bring good tidings of good. Publish salvation. Tell everyone, “Your God Reigns!” But, somewhere along the line I succumbed to the world view of success. It became all about the numbers.

Then, Facebook changed their entire format. Their algorithms today eliminate followers faster than anyone can build a following unless one is willing to boost each post for $14 per.

No thanks! Not me. After declining this on every post my stats have dropped from thousands per day to less than a hundred on a good day. So the question became, “should I delete Facebook altogether?”

Then after moving my blog to a less commercial and more affordable platform, the same questions came up here. “Is there really any point in spending hours writing for a blog that was followed by thousands and now has less than a hundred regulars?” I have never yet, nor will I ever become a “peddler” of God’s Word, so a blog format based on ads and gimmicks is not going to work for The Cottage.

Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.

2 Corinthians 2:17 NIV

Twenty days of brain-wracking indecision!

This has come up with disgusting regularity over most of the past decade.

I’m going to say this one more time, and that is going to be the end of it.

My marching orders are not to amass huge numbers of followers, likes, loves or hates. My marching orders are, and have always been, PUBLISH PEACE!

So PUBLISH PEACE it is. Never mind the number of likes, loves, hates or followers following. The Contentment Cottage belongs to The LORD. It was His idea from the start. He will bring those who are in need to the posts and pages. All I need to do is write what He dictates.

Here I am Lord. I’m back.
