The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
a good understanding have all those who practice it.
His praise endures for ever! Psalm 111.10 RSV

The first words I heard this morning were, “Well, the good news for today is we have no hot water.”

This was news to me, since filling the kettle to make coffee does not require hot water from the tap. Not exactly unexpected news. Our hot water heater is well beyond the 8 to 12 year life expectancy pronounced on the Home Improvement Store’s website. It was not, however, welcome news—the first thought being winged $$$ flying out of this month’s budget.

We talked about it over breakfast. Prayed about it , “Abba, In the name of your son, Jesus, we ask for favor and grace to accomplish what is needed here. Amen

We called the plumber, and I asked if he wanted us to purchase a new unit, or if they could supply one. “Don’t do anything until we look at it. We’ll be there before noon today.”

Thank you Jesus!

The plumber has come and gone. He replaced a thermo-coupler (whatever that is) instead of the whole unit. He pronounced the unit sound and assured D it would continue working for a good while yet. And, he apologized that he would be required to charge us for the service call as well as the $13.00 part.

The bill came to $111.10.

As I posted the check, I was inspired to look up the corresponding Psalm.

The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever. Psalm 111.10 AMP
