Forgive Yourself and Others
Do you ever feel your prayers never reach the throne room of God? If you feel that’s happening when you pray I suggest you examine your storehouse of pain and rejection. Have you internalized all of the little and large hurts instead of giving them to God? Did you stuff everything inside and retreat from people and from God?
Today, as you pray, personally consider this: Forgiveness is the way of the Cross. God chose to forgive ALL of our sins by sending His only Son to be-come our sacrificial Lamb. He sent Jesus to suffer and die for us on that Roman Cross. We need to forgive as we have been forgiven. When we store unforgiveness in our hearts we give the enemy legal authority to bombard us with disease, demonic influence and even death. Therefore forgiveness is a major key to breaking the strongholds in our lives.
Forgiveness is a process. It will take time to journey into our hearts with Holy Spirit, but He will help us discover the areas of bitterness and hurt that we’re holding onto. Then we must take them to God in prayer and ask for His forgiveness. He wants us healed of the traumas from past experiences. We may have to forgive something over and over and over again until there is no sting left. Forgiveness is not necessarily a one and done process. There are layers to forgiving. Forgiveness can be as simple as: “I choose to forgive for what was done to me.” or “I choose to forgive myself for __ (unbelief, self-hatred, bitterness, gossip, etc.)___ and ask You Abba, Father to forgive me.”
Don’t neglect the areas of your hear where you need to forgive yourself for your own mistakes. We’ve all made them. We can be our own worst enemy when we store bitterness toward our own souls.
Forgiveness is an action. Choose in your heart to forgive. Confess it with your mouth. Get alone with the Father and deal with your stuff out loud. Bring it into the light of God. Forgiveness is releasing old wounds and allowing God to step in and deal with them.
Unforgiveness poisons the soul. You may think you are in some way hurting the other person by holding onto it, but honestly you are only giving the enemy fertile soil to grow resentment, bitterness, anger and pain. God wants to completely remove the effects of it from your life. God want to heal us fully and we don’t want anything to hinder His work.

Father God, take my hand and lead me now into the broken places
of my heart. Help me to forgive all those who have wronged me.
Help me to forgive myself for all the wrong I have done.
Let no bitterness remain in my heart .
Help me to let go of my past hurts.
Show me where You were during these hard times that
I may understand that You never left me.
Thank you for helping me to fully forgive as You have fully forgiven me.
I pray in the name of Jesus,.
Amen
- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. _John 3:16 (NKJV)
- Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” _ Luke 23:34 (NKJV)
- Beloved, don’t be obsessed with taking revenge, but leave that to God’s righteous justice. For the Scriptures say: “If you don’t take justice in your own hands, I will release justice for you,” says the Lord. __ Romans 12:19 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Psalm 103:11-12 (TPT)
Higher than the highest heavens—
that’s how high your tender mercy extends!
Greater than the grandeur of heaven above
is the greatness of your loyal love, towering over all
who fear you and bow down before you!
Farther than from a sunrise to a sunset—
that’s how far you’ve removed our guilt from us. __
