There has been a greenhouse in Mr. L’s garden every place we’ve ever lived. And, in that greenhouse there are always orchids of one variety or another.
Right now he has several rather spectacular specimens I’d like to feature here:
This one is a phalaenopsis [commonly called a “moth orchid”]. She came from a big box store, has no fancy pedigree, but blooms faithfully and beautifully every few months. She’s a favorite of mine and graces my studio space whenever she flowers.
These two beauties are also lacking debutante status, but again, offer their blooms faithfully. They come in the house when the flowers are in full splendor and return to the greenhouse where they receive Mr. L’s special brand of loving care until the next show.

And last, but not least is the red “Cat” we’ve carried with us from garden to garden for the past 30 years or more. She’s hardy and sassy and blooms every spring to remind us that given love and attention even the least of us will thrive.
