Today has been remarkable! For the first time in over two decades I spent the day working in someone else’s office.

What a mess!  Don’t they teach the A B C’s in school anymore?

The office I volunteered to ‘organize’ has been managed for the past several months by a young woman who portrayed herself as a Business School graduate, with Management and Human Resources experience.

Ha! I’ve gotta tell you…although I have no Business or Managerial Degrees…she has no clue.  Now please understand, I can’t tell the Administrator who hired her, who couldn’t find anything when she was fired, she has no clue. It might come across as a reflection on his judgment and abilities. But, pleeease!! What ever happened to common sense and logical progression?  It’s no wonder he can’t find anything, because the entire office / filing system was chaos.  What do they teach in Business School these days anyway?

Most of my work experience has been as a business owner or an ‘administrative assistant’  and I’ve seen some shoddy work over the years, but this…?

Okay. Rant over. Moving right along…

Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1

These posts are intended to speak of blessings and give glory and honor to the Lord Jesus for all of the great and wonderful things He brings to our life.  I really didn’t intend to start this one off with a negative. Just couldn’t help myself. Please forgive me.

The blessing part of our new job is truly amazing:

Dick has been appointed the Chaplain of a large Christian Assisted Living Facility in our community!

It’s perfect for us. And, hindsight being 20/20, looking through my journal entries from the summer and fall, I believe it is what the Lord has been preparing us for all along. Not a pastorate—a chaplaincy. Not a shepherd—a spiritual guardian for another ‘daughter in Christ’ and her ministry.

So far, we’re not exactly certain whether this will be a permanent position or another ‘end row’ .  We are hoping and praying for permanent, with time allowed for other end rows, too. Either way, we are blessed by the opportunity and giving it everything we’ve got to honor the challenge God has offered.

At this point our schedule is completely in God’s hands, we are merely working day by day, hour by hour to help build and rebuild an organization that has been decimated by ungodly men, who brought strife and division.  We are leaning heavily on God’s promises:

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.

Isaiah 54:17

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2

We have already seen victory in areas where only evil was intended, and we trust God to bring a complete and total victory in every detail.

Wish I had the time and the freedom to share more with you, dear readers.  But for now, we are both quite busy, and there are certain details I am not at liberty to write about yet.

Please keep ‘the Chaplain’ and me in your prayers as we move forward in this new project.  It is SO exciting!
