Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

3 John 1:2
spirit, soul & body

From John the Beloved I learn it is my Father’s wish that I prosper in all things: spiritual things, emotional things and physical things. If this were not true, why would the Holy Spirit have inspired the Apostle to write this potent blessing?

pros·per·i·ty
präˈsperitē/
noun
1.
the state of being prosperous.
“a long period of prosperity”
synonyms: success, profitability, affluence, wealth, opulence, luxury, the good life, milk and honey, (good) fortune, ease, plenty, comfort, security, well-being

It means different things to different people. But, any way you stack it, it’s a good thing–something God has made provision for in the lives of His children.

Our modern world, moving at an ever increasing pace; demanding that we pack more and more things, people, destinations into every minute, leaves us impoverished in so many areas.

For us, the good life embodies ease, comfort, security, just enough, serenity, a sense of well-being. It all equals PEACE!

Jesus said:

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid…

 John 14:27

He would probably have used the Hebrew word Shalom, here translated eirēnē in the Greek

εἰρήνη

(Greek) security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)

שָׁלוֹם

(Hebrew) completeness, soundness, welfare, peace
completeness (in number)
safety, soundness (in body)
welfare, health, prosperity
peace, quiet,
tranquility, contentment

Beloved, I wish you good health and prosperity in 2014. Day by day this is what we will be claiming for ourselves here at the Cottage.
